YBhg. Datuk Rashidi Hasbullah, Secretary General, Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia in his opening address also highlighted the importance of ICE Age in our history.
"It strikes me that, the ICE Age was a totally different period and I believed that not many educational nor scientific exhibitions in this region focused on this important period in Earth history. Plus, with all the rave and rage on the Ice Age animated movies in the past recent years, we felt that why not bring it to LIVE, right here in MATIC Kuala Lumpur".
Through flora and fauna, nature and environment, our culture and heritage can be related and evolved around them. MOTAC are aware of the importance of protecting the environment and its connection to our culture and heritage through Citrawarna@Kuala Lumpur 2017, one of the MOTAC’s signature event.
One of MOTAC’s target market for the Ice Age Alive Exhibition is the family market. Globally, family travel is a growing segment. In the year 2012, it was estimated that 44 million people travel on family holidays and spend US$29 billion every year in Asia Pacific region alone. It was also estimated that families account for about 30% of the leisure travel market around the world. In addition, this is one of our initiative in fulfilling our aim to achieve 36 million tourist arrivals, RM 168 billion in tourism receipts by the year 2020, in line with our Visit Malaysia 2020 tagline of TRAVEL, ENJOY and RESPECT, echoing the UNWTO World Tourism Day 2017 campaign and bringing it to the next level; calling for tourists to become a catalyst for positive change towards a better future.
