MAGIC OF THE NIGHT 2013
PUTRAJAYA, 12 June 2013 - Magic of the Night, an innovative event held for the third consecutive year by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia will take place from 22 June to 30 June 2013 with the theme Colours of Harmony. This event will be officiated by YB Dato' Seri Mohamed Nazri bin Abdul Aziz, Minister of Tourism and Culture, Malaysia on 22 June at 8.30 pm.
Fourteen (14) resplendently lighted boats, decked with amazing details of popular tourism icons are set to float gracefully along a 3-kilometre stretch of the scenic waterfront at Putrajaya Lake, Precint 2. The participating teams include:

Magic of the Night, held in conjunction with Floria Putrajaya, by Perbadanan Putrajaya, has been the signature event of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture since 2011 and receives overwhelming response from both local and foreign visitors.
This event of international standing is aimed at introducing and promoting the diversity and richness of nature, culture and tradition of the country. In addition, it aims to cultivate environmentally friendly cultural activities, increase awareness and appreciation of the beauty of flora and fauna.
For those who want to know more about Visit Malaysia Year 2014 and the volunteering initiative under the Ministry called 1Voluntourism, a booth will be set up near the event launch site with lots of fun activities such as the 1Malaysia Green 1Malaysia Clean campaign, musical and cultural performance.
This event will start from 8.30 am to 9.30 pm followed by static display of the boats from 9.30 pm to 11.30 pm.
All are invited to join the Magic of the Night photography contest which will be starting on 22 June 2013. Contest forms are available at Ministry's website at www.motac.gov.my. Closing date for the contest is on 27 June 2013.
TOURIST ARRIVALS UP 15.9 % IN Q1 OF 2013
On a different note, Malaysia recorded an overall growth of 15.9% with 6,449,398 tourists in Q1 2013 as compared to 5,562,538 tourists in 2012. Tourist receipts for 2012 also grew by 16.7%, generating RM14.99 billion to the country's revenue as compared to RM12.84 billion in 2011.

ABOUT THE PUTRAJAYA FLOWER AND GARDEN FESTIVAL 2013 (FLORIA PUTRAJAYA 2013)
The Putrajaya Flower and Garden Festival 2013 or also known as the Floria Putrajaya 2013, themed "Orchid Flowers - Topical Treasures" has more than 5,000 species of orchids that will be on display in the garden in different and unique styles.
Other attractions during Floria Putrajaya 2013 include the Royal Garden, Innovation Garden, Tea Party Garden, and Longest Landscaped Vertical Wall. Visitors also have the opportunity to join more than 200 activities including a photography contest, garden bazaar, horticulture market, garden talks and workshops.
