THE MALAYSIA YEAR OF FESTIVALS (MYFEST) 2015 ROADSHOW CONTINUES IN NEGERI SEMBILAN
SEREMBAN, 28 October 2014 - The Malaysia Year of Festivals (MyFest) 2015 roadshow continues in Negeri Sembilan today, as part of Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia's (MOTAC) efforts to build up the promotion for next year's biggest tourism celebration.The program is held at the Royale Bintang Hotel, Seremban, and attended by the state's tourism and culture industry players. Also present is Negeri Sembilan Tourism Exco, YB Tuan Haji Tun Hairudin Abu Bakar and General Manager of Visit Malaysia Year 2014 Secretariat, Pn. Nor Yahati Awang. The session consists of briefings by MOTAC's Deputy Secretary General (Tourism), En. Rashidi Hasbullah and the Director of Communication and Publicity Division, Tourism Malaysia, En. Mohmed Razip Hasan.
The Prime Minister of Malaysia has announced in his recent 2015 Budget speech that the government will be implementing the Malaysia Year of Festivals (MyFEST) next year. The campaign will continue to boost the tourism sector and maintain Malaysia as the top of the mind tourist destination with a target of receiving 29.4 million tourist arrivals and RM89 billion tourist receipts.
The campaign will complement the Malaysia Tourism Transformation Plan (MTTP:2020:36:168) where the country has set a target of 36 million tourist arrivals with RM168 billion tourist receipts in the year 2020.
The program is set to be the platform to disseminate the vision, targets and branding guidelines of Malaysia Year of Festivals 2015 2015 to the industry players and stakeholders for effective implementation; while providing the opportunity to meet up to share ideas and garner feedback.
As Malaysia is blessed with various cultures, the new campaign seeks to showcase and celebrate Malaysia's bountiful and diverse cultures and festivities as a tourist attraction. The promotion of various Malaysian festivities and cultural element will be further boost as tourism offerings in MyFest 2015 campaign. With new focus, festivities and cultural events the whole year of 2015, next year promises abundant of excitement where attractions includes the year-long Skyride Festival, cultural themed events, family fun events, shopping festival and lots more.
Themed "Endless Celebrations", the year-long calendar is packed with festivities of every genre; for instance cultural festivals, shopping extravaganzas, international acclaimed events, eco-tourism events, arts, music showcases, food promotions and other themed events.
The MyFEST2015's logo is based on a traditional musical instrument known as the Rebana Ubi. Interestingly, drums are also widely used by various major races in Malaysia, Therefore, the drum is a musical instrument which can be associated with Malaysia's multicultural society, in line with the spirit of 1Malaysia. Therefore, this logo design reflects an important part of the country's heritage, traditions and culture.
The Malaysia Year of Festivals 2015 campaign will also leverage on smart partnerships with the private and public sectors in line with the National Blue Ocean Strategy through integrated public-private partnership strategy that nurtures stakeholder engagement, support and participation. The symbiosis enables Malaysia's tourism efforts to be competitive and to remain one of the prime contributors to the socio-economic development of the nation. Tourism is the second largest foreign-exchange earner after manufactured good and the sixth largest component in the Malaysia economy in 2013, moving up one spot compared to 2012 with a contribution of RM51.5 billion to the Gross National Income (GNI) in 2013.
The Malaysian tourism sector remains resilient despite various challenges faced where Malaysia is still on the right track to achieve the Visit Malaysia Year 2014 target. Hence, the MyFest campaign will continue to boost the tourism sector after the Visit Malaysia Year 2014 campaign. Stakeholders and industry players should be united and Malaysians should come forward in the spirit of unity in the efforts to make the Malaysia Year of Festivals 2015 a success.
The many tourism landscapes, unique blend of cultural and heritage, abundance of biodiversity, cuisines, arts, crafts and architecture, these qualities have always put Malaysia on the map as a must-visit global destination. The Malaysia Year of Festivals 2015 will continue to leverage on Malaysia's iconic brand, Malaysia, Truly Asia to make the Malaysia Year of Festivals 2015 a success.
As Malaysia Year of Festivals 2015 is a national mission, it is envisaged that government agencies, the private sector, non-government agencies and industry players will come together and make the national campaign a success.
