SCOOT MARKS THE INAUGURAL JOURNEY OF ITS FIRST FLIGHT TO MALACCA, MALAYSIA
23 OCTOBER 2024, MALACCA – Scoot, the low-cost subsidiary of Singapore Airlines (SIA), celebrated the arrival of its first-ever flight to Malacca, marking its 11th and newest destination in Malaysia. Scoot will operate five times weekly services between Singapore and Malacca on the Embraer E190-E2 aircraft.A commemorative water cannon salute greeted the aircraft upon its arrival at Malacca International Airport. Representatives from Scoot, Tourism Malaysia and Tourism Malacca were also invited to watch a cultural dance performance organised by Tourism Malacca to celebrate this momentous occasion. The introduction of Scoot’s flights to Malacca is a significant boost for the city's tourism and economy. This enhanced accessibility not only promotes Malacca as a prime travel destination but also creates valuable opportunities for local businesses and the hospitality industry, contributing to sustained economic growth. Additionally, the direct link with Singapore opens the door to more regional collaborations and cultural exchanges.
YB Dato’ Sri Tiong King Sing, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) said “We welcome Scoot’s inaugural flight to Malacca. This is an important step in the facilitation of enhanced international connectivity to Malaysia. The new route between Malacca and Singapore will improve connectivity, tourism, and trade not only from Singapore but also from the rest of Scoot’s network. We look forward to our continuing partnership with Scoot as we enhance and contribute to the growth of Malaysia and Singapore’s travel and tourism industries.”

YAB Datuk Seri Utama Ab Rauf bin Yusoh, Chief Minister of Malacca, said “Scoot’s flights to Malacca unlocks new opportunities for the city as more travellers are now able to discover this historic destination in Malaysia. With five times weekly flights, travellers from Singapore and beyond enjoy greater convenience to get to our city to enjoy our local culture and food, boosting our economy.”
With the addition of Malacca to Scoot’s network, the airline now serves 72 destinations across 18 countries and territories, spanning the Asia-Pacific, Middle East, and Europe. Beside Malacca, Scoot also flies to 10 other Malaysian cities including Ipoh, Kota Kinabalu, Kuala Lumpur, Kuantan, Kuching, Langkawi, Miri, Penang, Sibu and Subang. From October 2024, Scoot will operate 115 weekly flights to Malaysia. MOTAC remains dedicated to forming strategic partnerships and collaborations with international airlines to boost promotional efforts and stimulate travel demands.
